Disclaimer
The API Composite List and its records are published and maintained by the American Petroleum Institute (API). OFMP is an independent supplier discovery site and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting for API. OFMP does not certify, audit or verify suppliers. Always rely on the API Composite List itself for the current status of a license or registration.
What the API Composite List is
The API Composite List is API's free online directory of API Monogram licensees, API Repair and Remanufacture licensees and organizations with management systems registered through APIQR, such as API Spec Q1, API Spec Q2, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and API 18LCM.
Each record is tied to one facility. A company with several plants can have several records with different certificate numbers, addresses and scopes.
Step 1 — Search by certificate number first
Ask the supplier for the certificate number printed on the license or registration certificate, then enter it in the Certification # field. Monogram license numbers start with the specification, for example 5CT-0000 or 6A-0000.
If you only have a company name, search by name and country. Names on the list can differ from trading names, so compare the address as well.
Step 2 — Read the status
Only Active means the facility currently holds the license or registration. Applicant means an audit is still pending. Canceled, Expired, Inactive, Suspended and Withdrawn mean the facility is not authorized to use the mark or number. Transitioned reflects a change to a new edition of the specification, not a loss of certification.
Check the status on the day you place an order. Statuses change, and a PDF certificate or a screenshot can be out of date.
Step 3 — Match facility, standard and product scope
Confirm that the facility address on the record is the plant that will make your product. A license held by another plant of the same group does not cover goods made elsewhere.
Open the record details and read the registration scope: the products, sizes, grades or product specification levels (PSL) listed there are what the license covers. If your item is outside that scope, ask the supplier for written clarification.
Step 4 — Monogram license or management system registration
An API Monogram license (for example API 5CT, 6A or 6D) lets a facility apply the API Monogram to new products that conform to that specification. An API Spec Q1 or ISO 9001 registration covers the quality management system; it does not by itself allow the Monogram to be applied to a product.
If your purchase order requires monogrammed equipment, check for an Active license under the relevant product specification, not only a Q1 registration.
Step 5 — Keep records with the order
Save the certificate number, the status you saw and the date you checked. Request the mill or test certificates and any documents your specification calls for, and check that the monogram and license number on the product match the record.
API also runs a nonconformance reporting process for suspected misuse of its marks; the link is on the Composite List page.
How OFMP uses these records
OFMP lists China facilities whose records the API Composite List marks Active and organizes them by product, standard and location so you can build a shortlist. OFMP's copy can lag behind the source. Treat a listing on OFMP as a starting point and confirm every record on the API Composite List.
